Michael is our Partner, Coaching and Training.

He’s written speeches for CEOs, coached executives on their communications effectiveness, and designed and delivered trainings on business presentation, business writing, and business meetings for managers at all levels in the corporate world.


Michael’s assignments have taken him to: Belgrade, in Serbia, where he coached the senior management team at Eksimbanka, a bank owned in part by George Soros, on presenting to potential investors; Atlanta, in the United States and Prague, in the Czech Republic, where he coached over 40 continuous improvement teams at Alcan on the design and delivery of presentations for their annual global conference; and Toronto, in Ontario, where he coached the CEO of Banque Nationale on a speech to business journalists and financial analysts, which he had written for him.

Michael leads the orientation course on business presentation for the Executive MBA program of Concordia University’s John Molson School of Business.  He’s also a seminar leader in business presentation at McGill’s Executive Institute in the Desautels Faculty of Management.

His blog, From Marshall and me, is an exploration of the life and thinking of Marshall Mcluhan.

His book, Speaking to the CEO, is based on interviews with CEOs, senior executives, management consultants and academics, and deals with what tough business audiences want to see in a business presentation.

Educated at Queen’s and the University of Toronto, Michael earned a B.A. (Hons) and M.A. in economics and economic history. Before starting HINTON he taught economics at Concordia and worked as a management consultant.

A Distinguished Toastmaster, and a prize winning speaker, Michael’s also a past Vice-President of Tel-Aide Montreal.
